Head Start is a Federal program for pre-school children from low income families. The Head Start program is operated by local nonprofit organizations in almost every county in the country. Children who attend Head Start participate in a variety of educational activities. They also receive healthy meals and snacks, and enjoy playing indoors and outdoors in a safe setting.
Rose Hill Community Center hosts two of New Castle County’s Head Start Programs: Rose Hill Head Start and Lambson Head Start (both programs are Half Day). The dedicated staff includes both English and Spanish speaking faculty.
Some highlights of the Head Start program include:
Comprehensive preschool program, nutritious meals, bus transportation, monthly parent meetings, job opportunities, school funding for parents, social services, educational services, and medical screenings.
